middle of nowhere

Ruth and Norm invited us to stay at their cabin (which is actually a super nice house) in Caneyville, KY. We'd always wondered where the middle of nowhere is--and now we know. We were supposed to leave Friday morning but when we got bored Thursday night we decided to go ahead and leave. That's when the story becomes similar to a horror movie...

It was a dark and stormy night...seriously, it was. At about 1:30am we located the mile-long driveway leading to the cabin. Because it had been raining for hours, the road was mostly mud. Our dodge neon struggled over the terrain as lightening lit up the cabin which is perched on a hill. About half way up the drive, the neon got stuck. That's when things really became like a scary movie:

Chris: You stay here and I'll go up to the house.
Megan: Okay.

In the darkness and through the mud, Chris made his way to the house but was too scared to knock. Meanwhile, from inside the car, Megan saw someone inside the house. She began to realize her current situation was much like dozens of horror movies she'd seen. First, the characters who separate are always killed off quickly. So she grabbed the flashlight and followed after Chris. It was then that she realized her second mistake...using a flashlight always attracts the killer. Chris and Megan were reunited near the house where they decided to go to the door together. As they approached the porch, all of the lights went out in the house. Whoever was inside, was either after them or believed Chris and Megan were after them. After banging on the door for several minutes, Chris and Megan decided to leave. But because of the scary events, they both had to pee...really bad. Covered in darkness and surrounded by tall grass, they urinated. They climbed back into the neon and eventually freed it from the mud. About thirty minutes later, they checked into the Hatfield Inn in Litchfield.

The next morning, they called Ruth and learned that the person in the house was actually just Norm.

we came across a lot of wild creatures at Ruth & Norm's :)

Sounds like you all had a wild and crazy yet scary time! The house looks beautiful and Chris looks right at home in the hammock. The only thing missing in it was you!!! Thanks for the wonderful blog. I love you!!!

We went to the cabin on a couple Broken group retreats so I can imagine how creepy that scene was. It's an awesome place to get away though. You guys are lucky to have access to a place like that. I would enjoy it as much as possible!

we were just talking about this place last night. When we went, we were newly married and Josh decided to push my in the mud on that big huge hill. It wasn't fun... and I think everyone thought that would be it for us. haha

Looks like lots of fun (after the Nightmare on Ruth and Norm's Hill episode that is)!
