My tailbone started hurting almost immediately after giving birth to Lincoln. When I asked Dr. Riely about it, she assured me that it was normal for my tailbone to hurt after the labor I had just experienced. After all, he did weigh 9 lbs and 3 ounces!
My tailbone continued to hurt after we were released from the hospital but it slowly started to feel better. It would only hurt when I would exercise, until last night. I was in so much pain that I took some of the medicine they sent me home from the hospital with, but it didn't help all that much. By this morning, I could hardly pick Lincoln up out of his crib.
My mom and dad came over to keep Lincoln so I could go to the doctor. Sure enough, I have a broken tailbone. I must have fractured my tailbone during labor and then it finally broke yesterday. I was recommended a physical therapist and told that in time it would heal. lovely :)
Taking care of Lincoln today has been rough. Things that are normally easy, like picking up pacifiers, getting in and out of bed, rocking Lincoln, picking up Lincoln, bouncing Lincoln, are all of a sudden very difficult. Did I mention that Lincoln slept 5 HOURS IN A ROLL last night! And then 3 more hours after that! But I was awake due to the tailbone.
Chris picked up dinner for us tonight so I wouldn't have to cook. My mom and aunt Chrissy have offered to help me with Lincoln during the day until I start feeling better too. Complaining aside---I am so lucky. I have a wonderful husband, family, and friends. And in all honesty, I would break my tailbone for that sweet boy everyday for the rest of my life :)
