Lincoln was really sick last week. We ended up taking him to his Pediatrician when he woke up one morning with a temperature of 103. He had diarrhea and all of this head/chest congestion stuff that's going around. Way more information than you want to know, I'm sure. The doctor said he had an ear infection and gave him an antibiotic and a decongestant.
I suspected he was coming down with something a couple days before he got sick when my mom called me and told me that while Lincoln was at her house that day, he had a number 2 accident. That was extremely unlike Lincoln. He has been potty trained for a little under two years now and I couldn't even remember the last time he had an accident during the day.
My mom told me that she could tell he was bothered. She went into the bathroom so she could clean out his underwear and Lincoln went with her. She said he was just staring off into space when he said, "Do not be afraid ... your prayer has been heard."
Now for those of you who have kiddos in Community Bible Study, you know that is one of their memory verses. I cannot tell you how many times Lincoln and I have went over that verse and how many times I thought he wasn't hearing a word I was saying. As hilarious as the timing was for when he decided to bring up God's Word, I still thought it was so precious that he knows when he is scared to "not be afraid ... his prayer has been heard."
Then last night Chris got really sick really fast. He tested positive for the flu and his fever got to almost 105. He was shaking and talking out of his head from the fever and he couldn't keep medicine down. I was sitting at our dining room table when Lincoln walked in and he must have noticed that I was worried. He has such a sensitive tender heart. He put his hands on my face and sang, "Nothing will be impossible with God" ... a song he learned to help him remember one of his memory verses.
I am so thankful that at three years old, Lincoln is already hiding God's Word in his heart and knows to call on Him when he is scared.
Chris' fever finally came down and he is not throwing up as of this morning. Thank you, God! Please be praying for our family today. I have woke up feeling awful. Lincoln's fever is back too. So we are going to head back to the doctor's office once they open. But I know one thing---I'm not going to be afraid ... my prayers have been heard!
