Day 4 without power

We have been without power since Sunday around noon. I was cooking because my family was on their way over for dinner. I noticed that it was getting very windy outside and our lights were flickering on and off. As soon as we began dipping food onto our plates, the electricity went out. I was so happy that it hadn't gone out while I was cooking!

After the winds calmed, Chris and I went for a walk and there was damage everywhere. Lucky for us, tree limbs and leaves was about all the damage we had. Our entire neighborhood is without power, and we've been told it could be awhile.

Because my mind is having a hard time grasping we don't have electricity, I keep suggesting we do things that require electricity. Here's what mine and Chris' conversations have been like the past few days...

Me frantically plugging my phone into my charger because my phone is going dead.
Chris: We don't have electricity.

Me: Let's watch The Office when we get home!
Chris: We don't have electricity.

Me: Can we keep the porch light on tonight?
Chris: NO!
Me: Why?
Chris: We don't have electricity!

Me: We should have kept that air window unit!
Chris: Why?
Me: So at least our bedroom could be cool...
Chris: We don't have electricity. (lots of laughter)

Chris was off from work on Monday. I had the genius idea of getting breakfast. Chris had the genius idea of going to Dairy Queen. We waited inside for breakfast burritos for 45 minutes!! As miserable as that sounds, it was actually really fun! The people and the workers were all acting really cranky and dramatic. We couldn't stop laughing at all the madness in that place.

The good thing about the electricity being out, is that the atmosphere in the evening is very romantic :) We've been lighting all of our candles and it's actually kind of nice. I've been sitting at Coffee Crossing for far too long charging my cell phone and blogging. I'm going to head back to our house and say a little prayer on my way that our electricity will be back when I arrive!
