We are on Day 6 without power. I'm still trying to do things that require electricity. Yesterday, I plugged my curling iron into the power outlet. Five minutes later, I tried to put a curl in my hair but it didn't work. I looked at my curling iron, puzzled as to why it wasn't heating up. I even went as far as to push the reset button on our power outlet...but then I remembered we didn't have electricity. All I could do was laugh at myself. I hear that pregnant women become very forgetful...does that count as an excuse since I'm forgetting that we don't have electricity?
Chris and I do this thing where we make up songs to the tune of church hymns and praise and worship songs. Actually, my mom would always do that to me and Josh when we were little. We would laugh at her and think she was coo coo for coco puffs. She would always smile at me and say, "You just wait. You are just like me." She was right. Now that I think of it...there are lots of things she said that about that she ended up being right about...hmmm. Anyways--I've got Chris doing it now. It's actually really fun. Chris and I decided that when we get our electricity back, we are going to sing the song There is Power In The Blood but with different words: There is power power power power wonder working power in the house of the Birkes....and so on. This won't be funny to you unless you know the song. We're singing the Gary Allen version where we sing the word power 4 times instead of 2. If only we had Gary to lead us with his classic snapping ;)
I'm so glad that I have a husband I can be silly with.
Last night I had a dream. I dreamed that our baby was born premature. It was a boy. He had really dark hair and blue eyes. He looked exactly like my brother Josh when he was born.
Tonight is date night and I'm super excited!!!
Once again, I've been at coffee crossing to long...so I'm going to go :)

megan, we are keeping you all in our prayers. so sorry you are still without power.
I know the no power thing really stinks. Dad hasn't had any either. Hope it comes back real soon. One good thing your electric bill is sure to be much less.
It is good to know that my legacy of praise songs lives on through you and now through our grandbaby. Keep up the singing, it somehow makes life a little more pleasant. I love you
